WHY YOU SHOULD NOT BE POOR
The state of being poor is often seen as being wretched, to be in need and serious lack. The definition of poor varies and being poor mean different things to people. To some people, to be poor means not living in good house, not well fed, struggling for living and always in lack. The word “poor” is complicated and to get the understanding of the word we need to examine the word critically. According to oxford advanced learners dictionary, the word poor means having little money, not having enough money for basic needs, deserving pity or sympathy, having little money or not having enough money for basic needs. From the above definition it can be inferred that to be poor means inability to afford the basic needs of life such as shelter, food, and clothing. In 1998, the United Nations defined poverty which is the state of being poor as denial of choices and opportunities. A violation of human dignity. it means lack of basic capacity to participate effectively in a society. It means not having enough to feed and clothe a family, not having a school or clinic to go to, not having, not having the land on which to grow ones food or a job to earn ones living, not having access to credit, it means insecurity, powerlessness and exclusion of individuals, household and communities. It means susceptibility to violence and it often implies a marginal or fragile environment without access to clean water or sanitation. This definition is comprehensive and encompassing considering many factors. The World Bank defines poverty in absolute terms. The bank defines extreme poverty as living on less than $1.90 per day and moderate poverty on less than $3.10 per day. Economics define poverty as an economic state where people are experiencing scarcity or the lack of certain commodities that are required for the lives of human beings like money and material things. Therefore poverty is a multifaceted concept inclusive of social economic and political elements.
From all the definitions we can ascertain that to be poor means to be deprived of basic needs of life. People are poor for different reasons such as background, environment, and laziness curse and so on. Whatever the cause of your poverty, you should not remain in the poor state. Do all your best not to be poor and it start from the will power? Your determination, not satisfied with the status quo, some people choose to stay poor because they are contented with free food, free shelter, free money, free shelter that people give them. They short charge themselves instead of longing for a better life. You can be borne by poor parents because you do not choose your parents. That is your predicament you cannot change it, you have to accept it but it becomes a problem if you choose to stay poor. The poor will never cease in the land because some people are contented with their situation. They are happy with freebies that they receive daily as a result of their actions their poverty becomes a curse. Curse is a limitation that keeps people in a poor state. No matter your prayers, curse of poverty will not be broken if you are not willing to break free from poverty by engaging your hands, skills in doing something worthwhile that will change your lot. Many people are poor but had they known the implications of being poor, they will be determined to get out of the poor state.
A poor man has no friends, nobody want to be a friend of the poor except the poor. The poor will always attract the poor. No man listen to the poor in the society even if he have ideas, the ideas will perish with him. They will mock him by saying “ideas that have not change his life”. The poor are looked down in the society; they are objects of reproach, oppression and hatred. Nobody wants to associate or relate with them. The poor are people to be pitied, they feed on crumbs and left overs. The poor man’s hope and aspirations die with him, the poor has no helpers, and the poor is always at the mercy of others. The poor has no inheritance for his children, the poor is not respected, even if his ideas are accepted he is not given honour due to it, no matter what he does, he is easily forgotten. These implications of being poor should create a desire in you not to be poor and you should not be poor because you cannot influence your world positively with your ideas, knowledge, and skills. Being poor draw people away from you no matter your gift, wealth and riches attract people and when they come you influence them with your ideas.
You should not be poor because your children, family, neighbours will disrespect you. People naturally respect men of wealth and riches but a poor man is an object of ridicule. Your children will even disrespect you because you cannot meet their basic needs.
You should not be poor because you owe your children a better life; you have to give them the best of everything that will make them great in life.
You should not be poor because of you have only one life to live and you cannot afford not to enjoy it. It is in this life you enjoy riches, wealth and honour.
You should not be poor because there are destinies attached to your life. If you are poor how will you be able to affect them?
Desiring not to be poor and determining not to be poor is not enough you have to be diligent with your hands, do a legit job or business. Do not be lazy, get doing something, stop living at the mercy of someone, stop looking for someone that will help you, Remember being rich is you affording basic needs of life, being rich is you contented with your income, get a work doing no matter how low the income may be .start from somewhere and keep moving . Do not inflict poverty on yourselves by living above your means; having more children than you can cater for is inviting poverty. Learn to live within your means no matter how small it may be. Get doing something that will make you financially independent. Break the cycle of poverty by being diligent in whatever you lay your hands on. Whatever he income you get from it. Live within it no man gets rich overnight. It is an accumulation of little income that makes a man rich. A little water here and there makes a mighty ocean.it is the little you are doing diligently that the LORD will bless and makes great. Money rituals, cheating gambling are not ways to get out of poverty. It may looks easy but it cut a man’s life short. There is no short cut to success except through diligence.
Finally to stay poor is to be contented with the situation. Break free from poverty by putting your hands to work and whatever you do with it shall be blessed. The power to make wealth is in you. Step out to do something. You cannot change the past but you can always change the future by changing what you do now. Change your attitude to wealth, do not have the attitude that all people that are rich are involved in illegal business or get it through dubious means or through money rituals. You too can also be rich by investing your time, energy, on the work of your hands. Run from actions such as drinking, womanizing, gambling smoking and the likes which attract poverty. Some people are poor because out of the little they have, they lavish it on women, alcohol and gambling, have a rethink today and work your way out of poverty.
